I don't quite know why, but I always assumed that Alex scretly fancied Evan in 2008. Technically there's nothing 'wrong' in it either because it's not they were related. Ok so she grew up knowing him buut.

Some indicators for me were:

The look she gives him when Molly runs off with him at the start of 1.8
The "you were gorgeous!" line in 2...I forget. The prostitute one. And the way she seemed so thrown and baffled to see Evan there in the first place. She knew they worked together, right?
The 'date that wasn't' scene in Luigi's in 2.4
The look of complete heartbreak when she finds out he was having an affair with Caroline. I knowit was her mother and all but it looked like it could be something deeper?
Alex assuming it was Evan in bed with her in her dream
The entire way Alex is around Evan throughout series 1, either pure admiration and platonic 'love', or she blates fancies him.

Was just wondering what everyone else thought?

It wouldn't surprise me if Alex did have a "crush" on Evan, particularly in her teenage years. He brought her up but is not her father so it would be very easy for her to misread her own feelings for him. I'm presuming that he was there for her when she split from Peter too so maybe she was on the rebound or something. I don't think anything has ever happened though.

I personally don't think she does, I think she acts a bit giddy around him because he brought her up, looked after her and they probably had a great relationship, full of fun!
She could find him attractive, and I think she does, but I don't she would let anything happen between them, even though they're not blood relatives, she would still probably feel a bit weird if something happened. Also I don't think she wanted anything to happen, because in some scenes it looks like he wants to but she doesn't let anything happen, as she also told Luigi something about it too after their meal at Luigis.

I also think the hand dance put her right off!

I don't think Alex fancied Evan. I think, once she got to 1981, she was just happy to see a familiar face that wasn't Layton's.

Do I think Alex fancies Evan in 2008? Nope. Definately not, no chance. He is, pretty much, her dad albeit not in the blood relative sense.


Now, ask me if I think she fancies him in 1981 and that's a different kettle of fish (as the saying goes).

I think Alex has completely mixed up feelings towards 1981 Evan.
I think she genuinly does find Evan attractive in 1981...hence her reaction when she first sees him and exclaims "You were gorgeous!!".
It's a bit like when you look back through an old family photo album and see pics of your parents deacades ago and you think "Crumbs! I forgot you were once young!". Get what I mean?

It doesn't mean you would fancy them but it shows that you forget that the adults you grew up around were once young people too.

But Alex...yes I think she found Evan very attractive and I DO believe that she genuinly (maybe reluctantly) fancied him.
Wether she would have actually acted on those feelings is another question entirely.

But for complete confirmation, just look at the scene between Luigi and Alex after the 'not quite a date' with Evan in 1.4.

After Alex has finished squirming about how "it really wouldn't be appropriate" Luigi asks Alex directly, "You like this man?"
Alex's response is to nod, mouth the word "Yes" and then grin.

So the answer, I believe, is a resounding YES to her fancying 1981 Evan, but not 2008 Evan.

god no he has been the closest thing she has had to a father! i do think it was different in the 80s as she was seing a different side to him, the side where he wasnt responsible for her! also the reason she was so upset with him was because she trusted him prop more than anyone else in her life bar Molly and he had betrayed her and her father and her family! and she had left her daughter with him

I agree with Blue-Jackal; it's probably not that she fancies him, as such; more like she's just surprised, as she shows, that he is (in her opinion) gorgeous.
Although he's not her dad, he raised her from a young age, so she's the next best thing.
As for the shock of discovering Evan was having an affair with Caroline.... I always saw it as, she had obviously preserved the memory of her parents as wonderful human beings who wouldn't do anything wrong, as you would if you lost them at that age. Then finding out they're not quite so angelic is probably a huge shock.
But I see what you mean, she was definitely giving signals. I think she was just trying to cling to the nearest familiar thing she could find...

Also, in series one, she doesn't believe 1981 is real, so to her, Evan isn't Evan... if that makes any sense?

Is he not her dad or is he? he her God father so he was around when she was born, did he know Caroline at uni, were they all friends? the way Tim says " a worm worked his way into our lives" (paraphraese) makes it sound like the affair had gone on for some time.

And of coarse you should never trust a man with a beard, I know I've worn one....
