Thanks Heidi, that's what I have been thinking too, but sometimes you can just read too much into something, so when I heard it another time I wasn't too sure. But yeah I'm with you, it has to be between Gene and Alex.

No offence but surely all that could have been put into one post instead of triple posting? But yes the hearts thing is interesting. Maybe it was just Alex's subconcious warning her in some way, like some sort of clue that the 08 she enters after being shot isn't real?

I've just spotted something in that 25ml poster that I hadn't noticed before.

In the appeal for witnesses to the shooting, the wording states that: 'he was last seen running from her vehicle shortly after the attack'

This has made me wonder what Arthur Layton was up to because the last we, as an audience saw of him, he was on the boat preparing to shoot Alex. So, did he then go back to wherever her car had been left? And if so why? What did he need to go back for?

Or, did he ever take her to the boat and shoot her at all?

It's given me a completely new angle of thought on the beginning of episode one and on the whole 'is it all in her head' idea and made me wonder which bits of the beginning are real and which have been imagined by Alex....

that is very interesting! You could also throw the Molly being kidnapped bit into this. Did Alex imagine this to cover for something more sinister? Hence why she imagined getting home to a safe and well Molly so she feels better in her subconsious when she does get back to Gene?

If you loook at the sketch of the guy on the poster, he looks nothing like Layton; and that's the guy they're looking for. He was seen near her car. To me, he looks a bit like an older Ray.

Here's a thought from rewatching 2.8 last night....

How come Gene was never suspected of killing Rock Salmon Doyle?
They know he was at the chippy, they know he beat him up...and obviously he has the incriminating chip oil on his boot!

Okay so I know chopping hands off etc isn't Gene's style but just look at the episode before and the evidence linking Alex to the killing of PC Summers!
