I thught they were both weird and a bit unnessesery tbh. I never liked Mummy Price.
I dunno, I thought Caroline was lovely in the end when we saw the other side to her in the interview room.
Overall though she was a horrid character. She treated Alex with contempt both as a child and an adult and I think Alex was probably better off with Evan. Even though Tim ultimately killed Caroline I think he cared for Alex more.
I absolutely adored Caroline!! She and Alex had a real bond as powerful women in a man's world, and their relationship was one of Mother and Daughter even though Caroline didn't know it. The way she said things like "is there something you need to tell me?" or when she said in the interview room that they should reconvene when Alex was a little less excited are the things a Mother would say to her child. I thought this was heartbreaking, although those lines could be taken as her being contemptuous to Alex. I suppose it was really, but Alex's behaviour may have brought that out in Caroline, as Alex of course acted oddly and childishly around her in parts. There were so many absolutely gorgeous, heart-wrenching scenes between the two, and the very end one in the interview room just left me sobbing
I just loved Caroline all the time. When she was being lovely and when she was being that powerful woman, even when she said the "pussycat" thing to Gene.
I also don't think she treated little Alex with contempt at all. The only scene I can think of which might show this is the one where Caroline leaves Alex alone at school, the one to which big Alex pronounced "It's not real, I will not get upset" or whatever the quote was. We see Caroline being a kind and encouraging Mum in the Rubix Cube scene, and we also hear her talking about "Lexi" very fondly, and of course telling big Alex that she loved her daughter in that final scene.
Amelia and Keeley just worked SO well together on screen, I wish this had been celebrated by ciritcs more. All I've read is bad things about people who couldn't care less if Caroline hung!
Also, I always hated Tim, I didn't see any warmth from him, towards anybody, not even little Alex. I know there's that niceish Narnia scene, but just look at the one where she's wearing his wig and he's chasing her round the courtroom. It shouldbe playful, but look at his face. It's mad, angry looking. He's an absolute control-freak, and that's why he tried to murder his wife and child. He may have loved them both, but he also wanted to control them.
ANyway, sorry, off topic. As for the dream sequences, the first one where Caroline is unkind to Alex I think is just something she is seeing because that's what she's thinking and feeling right then. She's questioning herself now because she's seen that history COULD in fact be changes as she's witness younger Summers being shot, and so it's brought the fact that she didn't save her parents back to her, she's feels incredible guilt and she's imagining her Mum saying these things to her.
In the second one, I believe this is more a message from Caroline, or even if it's imaginary, it's more true to Caroline's character and what she would actually say to Alex. Caroline knows that Alex is a Mum in this one, and that she has to get back, so either this is a dream - as how could Caroline know that? - or Caroline is in another world somewhere and has seen Alex's 2008 life somehow. I'm not saying she might have time-travelled or anything, perhaps she's just "beyond the grave" and has seen into Alex's life...who knows, I think both sequeneces work perfectly, the first is heartbreaking and the second reconfirms that bond between them again, and reassures Alex that she is still loved by her Mum, and also makes the feeling that she HAS to get back to Molly even stronger.
Sorry for the ramble, I just

Caroline a bit too much!
